Some response patterns are so engrained in people that it is not enough to simply say control your emotions.
For all the intellectual prowess one may have attained in life, for all the experience, and knowledge and wisdom, the one dimension of our four dimensions of human communication that constantly wrong foots us is the emotional dimension.
No matter how well we think we have it under control, the longer we supress it, the bigger the explosion when it surfaces… and not always the is it the right person who eventually receives that ‘energetic feedback’, once the camel’s back is broken.
Sometimes it’s simply someone in the office who asks to borrow a stapler or pen. Fear of the response is the biggest challenge we face when we face up to delivering , or receiving, difficult messages, but if fear wins… we’re all screwed.
